Tarmac Racing In Cairns - Now A Reality!

Thanks to North Queensland Motorsport Promotions, tarmac racing in Cairns is now a regular event. The business began operating in 2009 after lengthy negotiations with the Makotrac owners and shuffling its way through the associated red tape of legal matters as well as CAMS and FIA requirements

Stuart Iles

North Queensland Motorsport Promotions is owned and operated by Stuart Iles. Stuart has been involved with motorsport events in Sydney and Japan and, seeing a niche market for the local Cairns area, has made the Makotrac Circuit Sprint series a possibility. Working efficiently to CAMS guidelines, Stuart has seen the implementation of the first tarmac sprint series in the Cairns area.

People Helping Out

Peter Humphreys.

Far North Queensland Motorsport Club president. Been involved with FNQMC since about 1995.

Peter has raced in Motorkhanas, Khanacross', Rally Sprints and Rallies since about 1995 and has competed in Cairns , Townsville and Rallies in Brisbane as well as rounds of the Queensland Rally Championship.

Since 2003 Peter has turned efforts to officiating as well as the occasional race.  Peter's experience is highly regarded by NQMP and for the success of the sprint series.

Bril Mayer

As a director of Allcorp Advertising, (A design firm based in Townsville and Cairns specialising in web development) Bril works closely with North Queensland Motorsport Promotions in advertising and marketing.

Andrew Horn

Andrew is the Vice President of Far North Queensland Motorsports Club and is a level 3 CAMS official. Andrew regularly competes in bitumen and dirt motorsport events. Andrew runs a 1974 Datsun 260Z on tarmac and hillclimb events, and also competes in the North Queensland Khanacross Championship Series.

Andrew has a wealth of experience in organising and running motorsports events and is currently the Event Director for the Mareeba Khanacross and the Series Director for the N.Q Khanacross Series. Andrew has long been keen to hold a bitumen sprint in FNQ and has been a huge help in the preparations of the MAKOTRAC Sprint Series with N.Q.M.P.
